With the rapid evolution of information technology and biotechnology, the concept of modern medical care has been upgraded from the diagnosis and treatment of traditional diseases to prevention and prognosis, such as genetic testing, precision medicine and smart medicine, and advanced to health care and prediction. With the development of various cutting-edge engineering technologies, the rapid advancement of biomedical materials, the application of big data databases and artificial intelligence technology, it is not only the mainstream trend of medical prevention/diagnosis/treatment in the future, but also the key field of the global future biomedical industry.

In order to promote the development of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and at the same time improve the health and well-being of the Chinese people, the government has been promoting the "Biomedical Industry Innovation Promotion Program" since 2010. The "Regulations on Industry-University Cooperation and Talent Cultivation and Innovation in Key Fields of the State" supports enterprises and national universities to cooperate in establishing research institutes to accelerate talent cultivation and industrial innovation. It is obvious that the cultivation of talents and new innovative teams and cross-disciplinary integration are important trends in the future. Promoting innovation in the biomedical industry is an important part of the country's "six core strategic industries".

In the face of emerging infectious diseases, tumors, etc., the rapid aging of the population and society, and even the threat of modern mental diseases, the development of the medical materials industry will undoubtedly expand to the level of prevention/diagnosis/treatment, with the ultimate goal of achieving human health. Driven by the integration of diverse engineering technologies and biomedicine after the joint school, and shouldering the development mission of emerging industries at home and abroad, how to effectively integrate the fields of medicine/biology/engineering/information/materials/management/humanities, etc. It is imperative for hospitals to produce practical/available/commercially safe and effective innovative medical materials. The establishment of the "Innovative Medical Materials Translation R&D Center" is undoubtedly an important promoter of the new generation of innovative medical materials industry in the cultivation of R&D talents, cross-domain integration and industrial chain, and it is also a new opportunity for the development of the innovative medical materials industry.

It also stipulates five major strategic axes: promoting the link between medicine and engineering, integrating health and medical resources, developing medical materials industry settlements, cultivating medical translation talents, and promoting innovation and research and development.
