Established in 1994 following the university’s official reorganization, the College of Biomedical Science and Engineering (CBMSE) is housed in the second oldest building on campus—a landmark of the university’s founding. At its inception, the College integrated four academic units covering five professional fields: the Department of Medical Technology (including Medical Laboratory and Radiological Technology divisions), the Department of Physical Therapy, the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and the Institute of Medical Biotechnology.

In response to the rapid advancements in medical technology and engineering, CBMSE has continuously evolved. From its original four units, the College has expanded into its current robust structure, comprising four departments, one graduate institute, and two undergraduate degree programs. This growth reflects our commitment to interdisciplinary excellence and our adaptation to the global trends in healthcare and technology.
